Profitable restoration at scale
Equatoria Forestry Group is an integrated teak, coffee and carbon platform. We restore degraded land on long-dated forestry concessions, grow premium plantation teak, revive a forgotten coffee origin and build high-integrity carbon removals, with communities at the centre.
Proven operators on scarce, long-dated land
Only 0.5–1% of Africa is suitable for commercial teak. EFG holds more than 38,000 hectares of concessions and forest-reserve licences across South Sudan and Uganda, with terms of up to 60 years.
We have operated in Western Equatoria since 2006, rehabilitating teak first planted in the 1960s and building the systems needed to work in frontier conditions: nurseries, silviculture, fire management, logistics, processing and community partnership. Our senior team has worked together since 2011.
We are now taking that operating model to Uganda, where Green Environ Forestry, a 20,000-hectare restoration and commercial forestry project, is moving into implementation.
Our story and platform

Three layers of value from one landscape
Each revenue stream matures on a different timeline, so the platform is not dependent on any single commodity cycle.
Agroforestry crops
Estate-grown and outgrower Excelsa coffee, with cocoa in the pipeline, sold as traceable green coffee to international traders and specialty buyers.
Coffee & cocoaNature-based removals
Afforestation, reforestation and revegetation (ARR) projects on Ugandan forest reserves, generating high-integrity removal credits with community and biodiversity co-benefits.
CarbonPremium plantation teak
High-quality, provenance-backed teak managed on a sustainable 25-year rotation, supplying export-grade logs and sawn timber to international markets.
TeakA two-country platform
An operating base in South Sudan and a growth engine in Uganda, all run by one management team.
Equatoria Teak Company
Teak, Excelsa coffee and processing in Nzara, Western Equatoria.
Green Environ Teak Company
Harvested and replanted teak reserves in Maridi County.
Green Environ Forestry
Teak, restoration and coffee across four Central Forest Reserves.

Our plans focus on planting, protecting and scaling what already works.
- Teak: from 3,253 ha in South Sudan to a sustainable platform of around 9,565 ha, with Equatoria Teak Company growing to 4,000 ha and Green Environ Forestry establishing 5,565 ha in Uganda.
- Coffee: estate coffee at ETC growing from 83 ha to 200 ha and outgrower plantings from ~740 ha to ~1,980 ha, with new agroforestry coffee in Uganda.
- Cocoa: a 75 ha estate and 500 ha outgrower programme alongside coffee.
- Restoration & carbon: close to 9,900 ha of indigenous restoration at GEF, with first planting in 2026 and first carbon issuance targeted for 2029.

A major regional employer
500+ jobs today (90% local) and more than 1,000 at peak, with skills transfer across forestry, logistics and processing.
1,600+ outgrowers
Through “Excelling in Excelsa”, smallholder farmers, many of them women and young people, are connected to export markets.
3 million+ trees replanted
Plantation timber eases pressure on natural forests while restoration rebuilds soils, water regulation and biodiversity.
